Parent Duties — Werribee Little Athletics

Werribee Little Athletics Centre (WLAC) is run entirely by dedicated volunteers, with the majority of these being parents and guardians. The success of our weekly competition relies on every family contributing throughout the season.

Parents are expected to assist with the running of events by volunteering in a variety of roles. Many duties involve supporting an age group at field events, allowing parents to follow and support their child throughout the day, while other roles contribute to the overall operation of the Centre.

Seasonal Participation Requirement

Each family is required to earn the following minimum number of Parent Duty Points during the season:

Families with 1 athlete: 10 points
Families with 2 athletes: 16 points
Families with 3 or more athletes: 20 points

Points can be accumulated through a combination of volunteer duties throughout the season.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer in a variety of roles throughout the season to meet their required points.

Recording Your Volunteer Duties

To ensure all volunteer duties are accurately recorded, the following check-in process applies:

Officials are required to check in with the Volunteer Coordinator in the shed 20 minutes before their first event.
All other helpers must scan the QR code provided by the official or coordinator at the location where they are completing their duty.

Checking in is mandatory and allows WLAC to:

Record completed Parent Duty Points.
Track family volunteer contributions.
Support child safety and accountability throughout the day.

It is the responsibility of each parent or guardian to ensure they complete the required check-in process for every duty completed. Duties that are not checked in may not be credited.

Consequences for Incomplete Parent Duties

Families who do not achieve their required Parent Duty Points by the end of the season will have athletes who are:

Ineligible to compete in the WLAC Centre Championships.
Ineligible to receive an End of Season Trophy.

Regional & State Championship Events

Families whose athletes are selected to represent WLAC at Regional or State Championship events are required to complete an additional volunteer duty.

This duty is compulsory, separate from the seasonal Parent Duty Points requirement, and is a condition of participation.

Championship duties will be allocated fairly and communicated to families via email in the week leading up to the event.

Failure to Complete Championship Duty

Failure to complete an allocated duty at a Regional or State Championship event will result in:

Suspension of the athlete from one (1) round of WLAC Weekly Competition.
Ineligibility to participate in the WLAC Centre Championships.
